World Languages Department Mission Statement
The World Languages department at Incarnate Word Academy is dedicated to helping students communicate effectively in French, Spanish or Chinese. The program cultivates an awareness and appreciation of the diversity of social and cultural values both in the United States and in other countries. In an increasingly global society and ever more diverse American culture, it becomes the responsibility of the Foreign Language department to give students the linguistic and cultural tools which will prepare them for their place in a far more interrelated world. Developing these skills expands their critical understanding and helps students make sound decisions about themselves as they relate to individuals, their community and the world. In the future, Women of the Word will be prepared to compete for career opportunities due to their additional linguistic abilities and expanded perspectives.
